Doug Powell

Doug graduated with his Ph.D. in May 2014, and studied defects in high-performance kerfless crystalline silicon material, working with an industrial partner to improve minority-carrier lifetimes from ~20 microseconds to over a millisecond. He also studied photovoltaic manufacturing and global competitiveness. He received his B.S. in Mech E. from Ohio State University in 2008, where he studied solar hot water heating and sustainable housing design. Doug began his career as an Engineer on the Wind Systems Conceptual Design team at GE. Doug was an NDSEG fellow. He is now part of Boston Consulting Group.
